Last week was the first full school week of 2019, we made our resolutions on what we are going to do to help with the twenty time project and the community. This week we are still discussing on what needs to be done and in what order. Our response to Mrs. Bohenstiel's email is "Hello, so these are the kids that are planning on working with you on your vegetable garden. If we could find out what you were planting and what you want us to help you with the garden, we'll help. We have to plant fast growing vegetables if we want to have grown vegetables by April 30th for our project. We could just plant whatever and have a garden planted for our project instead. We should probably find a time to discuss plans." I am available anytime after six on school nights and on weekends available anytime to discuss our garden. I believe that this project will be turn out great for the community, and be a great experience for our group and me. Although looking to the future we still must work on the small stuff and get that out of the way, like setting dates for when we can work on the garden or getting the supplies.

Hey guys it is Tommy back for another blog. It has been awhile since I last did a blog, but we are still discussing what needs to be done. This week we were working on our elevator pitches for our twenty time project. Each elevator pitch was about thirty seconds long, and we talked about our project. We also talked about our goals for the project. Along with what needs to be done and ask our classmates for help if they wanted to. Shelton also emailed the teacher we are working on with during this project. We also got the supplies for the garden, and we also got the vegetables we are going to plant. Charles will soon start to print out fliers with information on this community garden. On these fliers it will have information like where, when, how you can help, and a short description about what we are doing for this project. This is it for this weeks update but I will report back next week with more information and the progress we made.
Hey guys it is Tommy back once again for another blog. Between week six and now we have done and found out a lot. Shelton has been emailing with Mrs. Bohenstiel, and she said that her students are going to help out with the garden! They will start to work on the garden at the beginning of April. Now Shelton Charles and I thought that this wouldn't really be as rewarding to us, so we decided that we will start another garden at Charles's house for all three of us to work on. To provide for the supplies for this garden at Charles's house, at lunch we will go around explaining to people about our garden. We will ask then to donate money or seeds. That is just an idea, but we might also think of a different idea. I have added a picture below to show you guys what our garden could possible look like in the near future. This is Tommy singing out until next week with more information.
Last year we started our twenty time project for my honors English Class. Charlie, Shelton, and I decided that since we couldn't get in contact with the mayor, so our teacher, Mr. Carlson, contacted a third grade teacher in our town named Mrs. Bohnenstiehl. She agreed to help us and would think it would be a great idea to have a community garden. instead of the garden having flowers and strawberries, we decided to make it a vegetable garden where we will have baby carrots and cabbage. With Mrs. Bohnenstiehl's help this project can happen! We still have to plan out all the details with Mrs. Bohnenstiehl, but it is looking really promising. There are still a few things we need to work on, such as making fliers to attract volunteers into helping with the garden. We also need to set up a date for when we are going to plant our produce garden, not only do we need to set up a date, we still also need to get supplies. I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year and I will return next week to update you all on the progress we made.
signing off, Tommy Strubhart Since last week we haven't accomplished much due to the holiday like thanksgiving and Christmas coming up. We mainly spent our time talk about what exactly we still need to do, and also found out that we don't contact the mayor for to see where we can plant this garden. Instead we have to talk to the Park and recreation department on where and when to plant out garden. If that doesn't work out our backup plan is to talk to the principal, and see if we can start the garden on school grounds. We still have to contact a Ace hardware or a place that has gardening supplies that we can use in exchange for a sponsorship. Shelton has gotten the number for public works so we can set up a meeting with them sometime this week to discuss our garden. We still have to plan out what we're going to do in the next coming months. Our only real problem is finding the time to do all of this outside of school. I'm busy with basketball and baseball almost everyday and my other group members are busy the days I am off. This is it for week two blog, tune in next week to see our progress.
Hi my name is Tommy and I am working on a community garden for Bethalto with my group members Shelton and Charlie. We are apart of our schools honors English program. This project is supposed to help the people and community around you. For our community garden we are going to plant flowers such as roses, violets, and sun flower, and we're also going to plant produce like, strawberries, tomatoes, and cabbage. We came up with this idea after our teacher introduce the 20 time project. To accomplish this goal, first we are planning on getting supplies to start our garden. At the beginning of Spring we will start planting our produce in our greenhouse at school, and soon move it outside into an area for our garden when it gets warmer. After it gets warmer and the produce is done we decided to give it to the homeless/ poor, or sell it to a local farmers market and give the money to homeless people who need the money. To get permission to do all of this, we are going to ask public works, and the mayor’s permission and advice on where to plant our garden. We will also need volunteers to help out though the winter and spring. In order to get volunteers we will have to make fliers, online means, newspapers. We will also have Shelton’s family help us out such as how to plant the produce and what to do. To be able to fund all of this we will ask for donations for garden tools.
